Our Members
Three voices, one tradition
The Dhadi tradition is carried by a lead singer, a Sarangi and a Dhad — each member also a Sikh preacher.
Training
Santhia and musical education
Every member of the Jatha has received Santhia of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji — the traditional instruction in the correct reading and pronunciation of Gurbani. This is not optional in the Dhadi tradition: the accuracy of what is recited matters as much as the music that carries it.
Alongside Santhia, each member has completed formal musical education and training in the instruments of the Dhadi tradition — the Dhad and the Sarangi — and in the vocal style the Vaaran require.
